2024 European Researcher's Night
On September 27th the European Researcher's Night aims to take science closer to the big public. Rafa participated this year with other colleagues from the Department of Biogeochemistry and Microbial Ecology organizing one of the stations for the scientific gymkhana held at the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales. Up to 500 children participated in this event. In our scientific stations, children learnt more about the microbiology world. They discovered that microbes are present almost everywhere. We also showed how daily objects like toys, coins or pencils carry microorganisms, that can grow in the proper media. Finally, we played a card game where kids had to properly use different medicines, including antibiotics, to cure a variety of diseases. So, they learnt that antibiotics must only be used for microbial infections. It was a great night full of microbial fun!
